About This Project

Red Incomplete Circles was originally commissioned in 1977, for the Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, located in Dayton, Ohio. The multi-year restoration project, was started in 2009, and focused first on the removal and then subsequent restoration of the blue panels, mechanicals, and neon tubing of the site specific work of art by the late, Stephen Antonakos. The project team including Dix and Burton of City Lights Neon was led by art conservation specialists from McKay Lodge Conservation Laboratory. Completed in 2018, the project team was awarded, a GSA Design Award in 2022, for excellence, through the U.S. Public Buildings Service.
